Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and performer since the beginning of the 1990s. As a young actress, she appeared in Broadway roles, she played the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. in You Can't Take It With You She was the recipient of the Tony Award as Best Featured actor in an Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her career working alongside famous directors and actors both on stage and screen. Ashford will be next seen alongside Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently working on the film of Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust starring Sarah Paulson. It will also be available on Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway return will take place on March 20, 2023. He plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford was Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, inspired by the scandal which was involving Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the national security crisis. In two seasons, Ashford played a prominent role in CBS's hit series B Positive. It was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway won both Tony Drama Desk Awards as in addition to Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role as Essie. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde are amongst her additional Broadway performances. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and now divides the time in Los Angeles, and New York.
