April Lockhart was born on July 4th, 1995. In seventh grade she began playing guitar and piano lessons, sparking her interest in writing songs. At the age of 12 April wrote her first song Different. At 14 old, she dedicated an enormous amount of time making song concepts and perfecting her music. Then she began to take trips to write with father in NY as well as LA. April began also to incorporate additional topics that were related to of her friends dealing in the area of bullying by peers and teenage suicide as depicted in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart is a lifestyle and beauty influencer with an ever-growing fan base. She works with popular brand Ilia in partnership, as well as being a lifestyle expert. Born without a left hand, the woman is a major part of her. It's however not the only thing she has to tell. As a result Lockhart's Instagram account isn't afraid to talk about her disability, but it doesn't center around it as well. The message? The message? That we are all multifaceted, and that our identity and physical selves are not all that they seem. Lockhart speaks via video in Nashville. "I do not intend to let it define my existence. I do not want to be only recognized as an expert in disabilities. This doesn't influence my day-to-day activities. I carry on doing my job as normal and have found my own ways to adapt. Since it's a an integral part of me and something worthy of talking about. Lockhart has been a great source of inspiration for her female friends in the area of self-acceptance. Yet, she confesses having moments of feeling uneasy about her appearance and wearing clothing with arms. She dresses according to her preferences and proudly posts pictures of herself in the outfits she picks out on social platforms. She says that self-love is a process. I'm not sure when you'll reach the final stage. It's the same for everybody regardless of how much they are afraid. It's important to have people in your life who know and can relate to the way you feel. They will be the ones asking you: What do you think about?
